Having been an avid hunter for forty years, I have tried to be on top of all the latest information in the pursuit of the whitetail deer. After this amount of time I have become a real skeptic when it comes to scents and attractants.
I have known Jim for 25 years and he goes about things related to hunting a lot like I do - very serious. In the summer of 2002 I stopped by Jim's for a hunters fix - bull session. At that time he shared a short film with me and his experience with a receipe he came up with as a deer attractant. Jim knew I hunted from southern Michigan to western upper peninsula. He gave me some simple instructions on his product and asked me to give it a try, pour it on a stump or down log and see what happens. Remember, I am a skeptic, so I put the stuff where deer signs is scarce, central Baraga county in 2003, also a place with more deer in Iron county, plus my favorite spot in Hillsdale county.
In Baraga county a young man took his first buck from my test area, a 4½ year old 9 point that weighed 196 pounds. A seven and a six were also taken at this location.
In Iron county no deer were taken, but plenty of signs was noted. At the Hillsdale location, I took an 8 point and watched several other bucks and does throughout October to December.
This recipe not only attracts, it will hold deer in an area.
